Origins
Turning early search-engine work into an independent consultancy
Link Ranker grew out of the SEO work I had begun at Discover Group in 1999. After leaving that full-time role and moving to a quieter part of British Columbia, I continued serving online-gaming clients independently and gradually expanded the consulting work into other industries.
Because SEO at the time touched site architecture, content, link development, server behavior and web development, the consulting practice naturally overlapped with technical work rather than existing as a purely marketing function.

The same relationships often led into web development, ecommerce and custom online systems, which later became a larger part of KrisTarr Technology and subsequent consulting work.
