Diagnose before prescribing
I prefer evidence, measurements and reproducible symptoms over assumptions. Whether the problem is security, performance or operations, the first goal is to understand what is actually happening.
About
I’m Kris Tarr, a technology and cybersecurity executive with hands-on and leadership experience. My work has crossed security, infrastructure, software, IT operations, ecommerce, digital investigations and executive management.
Career Path
I began in electronic and physical security, installing and maintaining CCTV, intrusion alarms and access-control systems. That early work established a practical foundation in troubleshooting, reliability and security long before cybersecurity became a mainstream job title.
I later joined KBR in Hungary supporting U.S. Army and NATO-led operations during IFOR, SFOR and KFOR. I progressed through operational and supervisory assignments into IT/COMMO, working with networks, servers, communications and sensitive operational systems in a mission-critical multinational environment.
After moving to Canada, my work expanded across software development, systems administration, early search-engine optimization, IT consulting and custom business applications. Over time that grew into CTO, IT Director, Interim CTO, Head of R&D, VP of Ecommerce, founder and CEO roles.
The common thread has been solving problems that do not fit neatly into one technical silo. A performance problem can involve infrastructure, application code and database behavior. A security problem can also be an operational or process problem. A business requirement can turn into an architecture, integration or reliability problem. I tend to be most useful where those boundaries overlap.
How I Work
I prefer evidence, measurements and reproducible symptoms over assumptions. Whether the problem is security, performance or operations, the first goal is to understand what is actually happening.
Executive responsibility has never separated me from implementation. I am comfortable moving from strategy and risk discussions into logs, infrastructure, application behavior, databases or code when the situation requires it.
Security, resilience and performance are not isolated features. They depend on architecture, configuration, processes, people and the way a system is operated over time.
Many difficult projects fail at the boundaries between technical teams, management and business requirements. I am accustomed to working across those boundaries and turning ambiguous requirements into practical technical decisions.

I’m particularly interested in technically demanding work where broad hands-on experience and executive perspective are both useful: senior technology and cybersecurity leadership, digital investigation, defense-contracting environments, infrastructure modernization, complex troubleshooting and selected consulting projects.
I’m based in Subic, Philippines and can work without sponsorship in Canada, the Philippines and all 27 European Union member states.
