With today’s bruised economy in mind, many SEO’s are brushing up their resumes, looking for opportunities at stable companies. A few good SEO friends and I recently had to go through this. We started noticing that the company we were working for was “changing directions”, especially in the Internet Marketing department and we noticed that most of our servers moved from our west coast datacentres to data centers closer to the company’s east coast offices. Things started to change so rapidly that I created a new folder in my email client called “good bye messages” where I started collecting emails from friends who got laid off, transferred or were smart enough to leave the sinking boat early enough.
I made the move months ago, when things were not looking too bright at the gambling company, Bodog (Riptown/Fiver Media), back to the safer accommodation industry, where I work now as Sr. SEO. A good friend of mine Keith Greene is just about to go through this, but to which industry is still unknown. When I was shining up my resume I decided to start offering my services by uploading my SEO resume to monster.ca and later added it to Linked in. My friend Keith decided to dedicate a website to his resume, while testing some SEO techniques on it. Check out Keith’s SEO Resume.
Here are some more resources I found useful for SEO’s trying to secure their jobs in the industry:
